Inner Peace

Dedicating time for you isn’t selfish, it’s necessary!

Inner peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control you.

Inner peace also known as peace of mind, is a state of calm and contentment that can be achieved despite stressors. It's about being in harmony with yourself, others, and the world around you, and navigating challenges with an accepting mind. But how… how do you achieve inner peace?

TIme- it’s everyones biggest stressor. There never seems to be enough time in the day for everything we need or want to do. We have all these responsibilities and expectations. Adulting 🙄

Let’s say you happen to find time after work and on weekends, to do non-work stuff, like reading, exercise, meditating, learning new things and starting a hobby. If you find the time to do these things and create it’s still never enough. You have too much that you want to do and there’s still not enough time to do it all.

The Cause of Not Enough Time

There is a fixed amount of time. It’s neither “enough” or “not enough” – it’s only OUR expectations that make it one way or another.

If we want to get more done than is possible in this fixed amount of time, we think it’s not enough. Why?? Because it didn’t meet our expectation. If we are satisfied with how much we can do in the fixed amount of time, it’s enough time.

So it’s our expectations of how much we “should” get done in a day that needs to change.

Where do all these expectaions come from???

We tend to blame our parents, our partners, our kids, our selves. Yes, the answer is all of the above. If our houses aren’t spotless- we have fear of judgement. If we don’t show up for that “thing” then what will they think?

But there’s always something to do!! I NEED to get that done….

Try this experiment for a week: make this list of things to do, prioritize them. Focus on that one thing that matters most in your personal life or work life. It’s the most important thing that can launch you forward and kick start your day.

We are encouraged to multi task. Quickly shifting our focus from one task to another never truly focusing on one thing. While in theory it sounds great and many of us brag about how well we can do it.

This process can reduce productivity by up to 40% and can also increase stress, errors, and decreased focus and efficiency.

Instead of multi tasking pour yourself into the act. Really be there with whatever you do, because you’ve chosen to include it in your day, so it must be important. Appreciate this task, and appreciate the space you’ve cleared for it.

Relax into each space, each task, each act, learning to love it just as it is. Not worrying about all we’re not doing, but instead appreciating what we are doing.

Don’t forget to make yourself a priority too. With that list to to do things- I’ll bet you forgot to add yourself to that list. Carving out 15 minutes to indulge in the practice of self care elevates your energy and allows you to connect with the universe and all things in it.

Here’s something for you to try… Heart-Light Visualization

  1. Find a Quiet Space: Choose a peaceful spot where you can sit undisturbed.

  2. Focus on Breathing: Close your eyes, take slow, deep breaths, and allow yourself to relax completely sinking into the surface below you.

  3. Visualize Your Heart-Light: Picture a warm, green light emanating from your heart center. With each breath, let this light grow brighter and expand, filling every part of you with its radiant energy.

  4. Connect with the Universe: As the light envelops you, imagine it extending beyond you, connecting your essence to the vast, loving energy of the universe.

"I pause to feel the gentle rhythm of life around me, allowing its harmony to guide my spirit. With every breath, I release tension and invite tranquility. I am open to the universe's wisdom, letting go of what no longer serves me. My words will be kind and my heart will be true. So it is, and so it shall be."

  5. Reflect and Record: After the session, open your eyes gently. Take a moment to jot down any feelings, sensations, or realizations that emerged during your visualization. Reflect on how this connection makes you feel and how you might carry this light into the rest of your day.

By incorporating this simple activity into your daily routine, you invite peace, clarity, and joy into your life, nurturing your connection to your inner self.
