The Power of Self Reflection
It’s hard not to get excited to see January 1st as a chance for a new start; a clean slate.
One thing that I’ve ALWAYS loved to do is a yearly reflection in my journal. I do this between Christmas and New Years day. It’s the perfect time to take a mindful moment to look back over the past 12 months and give ourselves credit for just how much we HAVE accomplished! How our experiences, failures and insignificant moments have led to incredible progress, lessons and insights that will positively impact the new year.
By reflecting on the last 12 months, you give yourself the opportunity to fully appreciate all the things you experienced and discovered, good and bad, as well as determine what things made you happy and which you hope to leave behind in the new year. Through self-reflection, you also gain a better overview of your life and how the way you thought about certain events directly impacted the way you felt, allowing you to see where you currently are and where you want to go next.
15 questions to help you reflect on 2024
Below are a few questions I like to use, to get you started:
What key lesson did you learn in 2024?
What were the things that you were most grateful for?
What one event, big or small, had the biggest impact on me?
What was the single biggest challenge I overcame?
10 incredible things that happened in the last 12 months.
5 things I’m most proud of from the last 12 months.
5 lessons I learnt in the last 12 months.
5 things I want to do more of in the next 12 months
5 things I want to do less of in the next 12 months
5 things I want to continue doing in the next 12 months

If I could live the last 12 months again, what would I do differently and why?
Knowing what I know now, what advice would I have given myself at the start of 2024?
5 things I want to accomplish in the next 12 months
What word do I want 2025 to imbody?
Answering these questions will help clear the way to plant new seeds for another prosperous trip around the sun. Try not to judge yourself too harshly.. And if you didn’t accomplish everything you wanted to last year, remember that sometimes big goals get pushed aside if they seem overwhelming. Break them down into more manageable goals. I promise this will help.
Remember that no matter how your year shakes out, your best isn’t behind you, it’s in front of you.
I shake off all that is heavy, leaving only lightness.
As lightness flows through my being, I find my joy and happiness.
You see the old ways crumbling and the new energy powering towards us.
You see the dreams shaping a new future directed with arrows of light and possibility.
You see the quest emerging, bright and vibrant on the horizon.
Here’s to a kick ass 2025!!
If you haven’t bee told lately, I love you!
